Each experience has helped me grow as a person and develop more confidence along the way. As a wedding DJ, I’ve crossed paths with countless amazing people from all cultures, and walks of life. I always strive to treat people with respect & kindness, and life has surely opened many new doors, experiences, and opportunities for me along the way. Everyone’s on their own timeline, and we all handle adversity differently. I strongly believe that we are all a work-in-progress, and age is just a number. I am grateful that my father was able to see his son graduate in front of him, and I will forever always cherish that memory! Despite holding various corporate job titles throughout the past decade, DJ-ing has been that one career-path that has held my interest the most, and it continues to inspire me. Despite some setbacks such as the struggle of watching my father lose his battle with cancer in 2018, I was able to complete my bachelors-degree before he passed away. I was able to use my earnings to slowly pay my way through college over time. However, as I improved and gained more experience, word began to spread, and bookings started rolling in. In the beginning, I mostly did it for fun in order to alleviate my depression & stay busy. In 2010, I purchased my first DJ gear from Amazon and started practicing with it. Through the art of DJ-ing, I found a way to express myself, connect with others, and create a sense of purpose that had been missing from my life. After experiencing a heartbreak, I took a brave decision to take a couple of semesters off from University, and focus on doing things that made me happy. It was a period of intense stress and pressure, and I felt like I was living a life that was not my own. I remember vividly the year 2009, when I was buried under student loans and struggling to find balance between my studies, work, and social life. It became a powerful tool for me to cope with the challenging times of my life. Music for me has always been a way to escape reality, and the art of DJ-ing came naturally to me. Yup! Good luck trying to imagine a South-Asian dad reacting towards his son wanting to pursue music lol… However, being a misfit and a bit of a weirdo :), I was always more interested in music and art, which was something that was not well-received by my father. Growing up within a conservative South-Asian immigrant family, I was expected to follow the traditional path of pursuing a safe career. Hello! My name is KASHIF (pronounced KAA-SHIF), but I usually go by KASH. Just a regular guy who’s in it for the music…
